The Grenada Chocolate Company



This bold flavoured chocolate is certified organic, locally produced by cacao makers on the Caribbean island of Grenada and then sailed to Europe on a sailing vessel: zero footprint!

After years of developing small-scale solar-powered versions of industrial chocolate-making equipment, Mott Green set up the Grenada Chocolate Company in 1999 to improve the lives position of the farmers. Mott: “The idea is to revolutionize the connection between cocoa farmers and the making of good quality chocolate and in this way improve the position of the farmers”.

With their highly innovative ‘tree to bar’ production process, they manage everything from planting trees to wrapping the chocolate bars. This way they make sure the farmers receive an equal share of the profit of the end product.

All ingredients, including the cacao butter, are of own production. Solar energy is used throughout the process and the bars are transported CO2-neutral to Europe on a historic sailing vessel. Their bold flavoured chocolate has already won many fans and their factory wall feature numerous awards.
